Concord Band Starts 2 Year Golden Celebration |

The Concord
Band (Bill McManus) of MA, USA, is about to start a two-year celebration of
50 years of banding, culminating in its anniversary concert in March 2009.
Throughout its long history, the Concord Band has distinguished itself amongst community
bands by commissioning many new works for concert band by such distinguished
composers as Norman Dello Joio, James Curnow, Warren Markey, Stephen Bulla,
Julie Girouz and Elliot Del Burgo.
Over the next two years the band will be performing a number of its most outstanding commissions and, in 2008, the band will release a CD of those pieces. In addition, the band has commission a new work for symphonic band by Roger Cichy for its anniversary. The new work will be premiered at the Golden Anniversary concert. |
